Stanford Databases
| Databases at Stanford Stanford University Libraries subscribe to hundreds of databases that provide you with information not available through a general search engine. You can find the Databases & Articles link on the library home page. Look at the Databases A-Z page now. You are presented with an alphabetical list of available databases, with some notation as to what they cover. Notice to the left of the list is a panel where you can select, for instance, Government Information to identify the relevant databases. Select Lexis Nexis Academic* and see that it covers full-text news, business and legal resources. Try a search on a current news issue. Return to Databases A-Z and select Alternative Press Index. Try a search, e.g., ecotourism. As you scroll through the results you can click on any title which links to the full record. In addition to the full citation, you will find an abstract, if available; some link to the full-text. You need to look at each database carefully to discover what it provides. Do not hesitate to ask a librarian for help about which database to choose for your research topic. *
