Government Documents as Primary Resources
Stanford's sizeable collection of government
documents are mostly housed in the Jonsson Library of Government Documents, located in Green
Library.
United States Federal Documents include
presidential papers, congressional documents,
U.S. Census, FBI files on microfilm, the
microfiche series of declassified documents,
the National Security Archive series and
technical reports of the Atomic Energy
Commission.
International Governmental Organizations'
publications include those of the United
Nations, particularly those of specialized
agencies such as the World Bank, UNESCO
and OECD. Documents from other IGOs include
those of the International Maritime Organization,
the International Civil Aviation Organization
and the World Trade Organization, as well
as those from regional IGOs such as the
Organization of American States.
Spend some time investigating the sites
to learn more about these fabulous resources.
However, don't exclude the many other libraries
on campus which also have primary resources
amidst their collections. In case you missed
it in the previous module, here's another
chance to become familiar with the many libraries at Stanford.
